Looting of shops continues in Lusaka, as 250 are arrested

The looting of foreign owned shops in Lusaka has continued to spread with Chawama being the latest township were shops have been looted.

However in Chawama compound, victims of the looting are Zambians.

QFM news crew that rushed to the scene found shops had been looted empty.

And one of the residents spoke to said the looting was on suspicion that the owners of the shops may have links to people behind the continued ritual killings.

Meanwhile 256 suspects have been apprehended in connection with the looting of shops currently going on in some parts of Lusaka as at 11:00hours today.

Police spokesperson Charity Chanda says the number of shops broken into and looted currently stands at 62 in all affected areas.

She says police officers have been deployed to the affected areas to restore law and order.
