The Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) has suspended the Road Service Licenses for Mazhandu Family Bus Services and Wada Chovu Transport for a period of one month each.

Briefing journalists in Lusaka this morning, RTSA Chief Executive Officer Zindaba Soko says the suspensions are with effect from 21st April, 2016.

Mr. Soko says the agency has also given conditions that the suspension will only be lifted once the operators put their houses in order.

He says the agency has also ordered that the drivers for two bus companies should undergo defensive driving tests and be subjected to retests thereafter.

Mr. Soko has also disclosed that the operator’s license for Aubrey M’membe of Kabwe the owner of the Benz minibus in which 25 people died recently remains suspended pending revocation.

And Mr. Soko has disclosed the Agency has unearthed a scam where two named RTSA officer fraudulently issued 200 driver licenses without following the required procedure.

He says has since revoked such licenses with immediate effect and ordered for fresh tests for the affected drivers whose names will soon be publicized through the media.
