KK encourages Zambians to support less privileged

Former President Dr. Kenneth Kaunda has encouraged Zambians to support initiatives aimed at uplifting the living standards of the less privileged in society.

Speaking during the ‘KK 92nd Birthday Build’, a Habitat for Humanity Zambia initiative to celebrate his birthday which falls later this month, Dr Kaunda who spoke through his son Kaweche during the commissioning of a K40, 000 Orphan and vulnerable children (OVC) project says as Habitat for Humanity Zambia patron he will continue to work with the community, community leaders, local government and community based partners and the private sector.

He says since the introduction of the OVC initiative, Habitat for Humanity has constructed 400 housing units for the orphans and vulnerable people in different communities across Zambia.

And speaking earlier, Habitat for Humanity Zambia Board Chairperson Douglas Katengo says Dr. Kaunda’s passion for the people has continued to encourage the Zambian people to join the ambitious effort to house more people.

Meanwhile the beneficiary of the house 37 year-old Tina Kachembo of Kamanga compound could not hide her happiness.

She praised Dr. Kaunda for building her and her family a house.
