Senkobo disease breaks out in Lufwanyama

A suspected livestock disease has broken out in Lufwanyama’s Lyamaoma farming area under Chief Fungulwe of the Lamba People.

According to the source suspected Dematophylosis otherwise locally known as Senkobo has been identified by the local veterinary officers in the area.

According to the Zambia National Farmers Union (ZNFU) Weekly Brief made available to QFM News, a total of about 18 cattle have been reported to have died in the last few weeks, prompting cattle owners around the district to seek government intervention by ensuring that experts are quickly sent into the affected area and ascertain the situation.

Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports also indicate that another suspected disease called Black Quarter is looming in the same area.

The area has been reported to have received an influx of cattle from sources outside the district, believed to have such a disease.
