Zesco United play their second league match of the season when they host Nkwazi on Saturday at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

The defending champions have a backlog of four matches due to their ongoing commitments in the 2016 Caf Champions League.

And Zesco, who won 2-1 away to Power Dynamos in their first league game of the season, host their bogey team Nkwazi who have not lost to the hosts over the last five years in Ndola.

Fourth placed Nkwazi have the enviable record of winning in all three of their last three visits to the five-time champions and this weekend chase for a fourth straight away win over Zesco.

Fifteenth placed Zesco’s last home win over Nkwazi dates back to July 11, 2010 when they defeated the Police outfit 2-1.

Victory this weekend is of psychological importance to Zesco coach George Lwandamina.

The game comes just three days before Zesco host Stade Malien at the same venue in a Caf Champions League last 16 final leg match that the hosts must win or draw to qualify to the group stage after beating the Malian side 3-1 away on April 9 in Bamako.

Lwandamina will be banking on the form of new striker Idris Mbombo who has scored six competitive goals so far this season for Zesco, four alone in the Champions League.

Meanwhile, Nkwazi head to Ndola in 7th place and unbeaten in their last three matches on 7 points after a losing start to their 2016 campaign.

Nkwazi will also be travelling with a familiar face in what is expected to be ex-Zesco and Mamelodi Sundowns defender Hichani Himonde’s first match after signing a short-term deal with the Lusaka club a week ago.
