Government is confident that it will collect over K500 million from the toll gates this year alone.

Works and Supply Minister Yamfwa Mukanga says from January to March this year, government has collected about K108 million from the two toll gates along Lusaka – Ndola road.

Mr. Mukanga says the money has since been taken to the National Road Fund Agency (NRFA) for road maintenance purposes.

He has disclosed that government last year collected about K428 million from the tool gates saying this is the more reason he is convinced that the target of K500 million will be met this year.

He has furthermore disclosed that a total of K297 million in 2014 was collected from the toll gates and thus the need to roll out this program to maximize revenue collection.

Meanwhile, Mr. Mukanga has warned contractors conniving with procuring entities in getting contracts even when they do not deserve such contracts of stern action.
