ZRA officers arrest man for impersonation

Alert Zambia Revenue Authority officers have apprehended a man for impersonation, who was about to swindle a private school of Lusaka of K50, 000.

Moses Tembo, aged 40, of house number 38/20 in Barastone was apprehended on Wednesday 13th April, 2016 at Thornhill Boarding and Day School in Chelstone.

According to a statement issued to QFM, Tembo between 4th and 13th April, 2016, went to Thornhill Boarding and Day School and introduced himself as an officer of the Zambia Revenue Authority following up on outstanding taxes owed to the Authority by the said school.

He went on have a discussion with the Director of the school and two of the school accountants and informed them that he as an officer of ZRA was able to erase the outstanding taxes of K236, 000 from the ZRA system if he could be offered K50, 000 which he was to share with other people he was working with in executing this deal.

Tembo then made a follow up on the issue on 13th April, 2016, and the school intimated to him that he could come back for further discussions.

The school then reported the matter to ZRA Investigations Department and Mr. Tembo was apprehended at the school when he went for the scheduled meeting.

He was scheduled to appear in court today for the offence of impersonation.
