Nevers Mumba
The Zambia Centre for Interparty Dialogue (ZCID) has commended MMD president Nevers Mumba for calling for reconciliation in the former ruling party.
ZCID Executive Director Horrance Chilando says his organisation is particularly impressed by Dr Mumba’s extension of an olive branch to all members facing disciplinary action.
Mr. Chilando says this is a demonstration of leadership by the MMD leader.
He says this is the best way to lead a political party that constitutes members with different preferences and values.
Mr Chilando has since encouraged other parties to learn from the move by Dr. Mumba in order to strengthen their political parties.
He says Dr. Mumba’s move will not only enhance the unity of the party but also improve internal party democracy.
Meanwhile Mr. Chilando says ZCID is concerned to note that in spite of all efforts to completely rid the political front of violence and related vices, there is still a perpetration of attitudes and behaviours which led to very reason the interparty meeting was called by the church.
He has since urged political parties to adhere to the seven point plan they agreed to on 29th March,2016, including putting an end to hate speech and militarisation of political party youth wings.
