SACCORD demands clear roadmap on POA amendment

SACCORD EDThe Southern African Center for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) says government should provide a clear roadmap on how the amendment of the Public Order Act will be done.

SACCORD Executive Director Boniface Cheembe says this will enable Zambians appreciate the political will on the part of government.

Mr. Cheembe says this is considering that similar promises have been made in past without being fulfilled.

He says government through the ministries of Home Affairs and Justice should therefore provide a clear roadmap on the planned amendment of the Public Order Act considering that there is little time before parliament is dissolved.

Mr. Cheembe says it’s difficult to believe that government will indeed amend the controversial Public Order Act before the August 11th elections.
