Sanity in public funds management will return- Mwambwa

Acting Auditor General Ron Mwambwa is confident that with the amendments made to constitution were his office has been given enhanced powers , the nation will see an improvement in the way public funds are managed.

Mr. Mwambwa tells QFM News that the Auditor General’s Office will closely collaborate with the Director of Public Prosecutions in ensuring the prosecution of people involved in the misappropriation of public funds.

He says the powers given to his office as enshrined in the constitution will also allow them to make appropriate follow ups on cases cited in the financial year under review.

Mr. Mwamba says it is also gratifying that his office has been given the expanded mandate to audit all local authorities, stating that beginning this year, all councils will be audited by the Auditor General’s office.

Mr. Mwambwa says this is the more reason he is convinced that sanity will return in the management of public funds because more action is expected to be seen from his office.
