The Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) has with immediate effect suspended the Road Service License for Aubrey M’membe of Kabwe the owner of the bus in which 25 people died after colliding with a Wada Chovu bus along the Great North Road.

And the Agency has given Wada Chovu Transport a seven days ultimatum to show cause why their Road Service License should not be revoked or suspended for failure to comply with conditions subject to which it was granted.

RTSA Senior Public Relations Manager Fredrick Mubanga in a statement to QFM News says the Agency is concerned with the poor road safety record for Mr. M’membe’s buses whose road safety records reveal that two of his buses were involved in terrible road traffic accidents on 30th April, 2013 and the recent one on 9th April, 2016 respectively.

Mr. Mubanga says on 30th April, 2013, Mr. M’membe bus a Toyota Hiace Minibus registration number ACP 3052 was involved in accident at Ibis Gardens in Chisamba in which eighteen (18) people lost their lives.

Mr Mubanga says the RTSA has therefore with immediate effect suspended the operator’s Licence for Mr. M’membe pending revocation.

He adds that Wada Chovu Transport has also been given a 7 days ultimatum to show cause why their Road Service License should not be revoked or suspended for failure to comply with conditions subject to which it was granted.

Mr. Mubanga says failure to do so within the prescribed period will leave the Agency with no option but to suspend or revoke the Road Service License.
