Continued mealie meal smuggling worries ZCSD

The Zambia Council for Social Development (ZCSD) is concerned with the continued reports of attempted maize and mealie meal smuggling.

ZCSD Executive Secretary Lewis Mwape says it was expected that by now, a lasting solution would have been found to curb the vice.

Mr. Mwape notes that it is only a few days ago when government banned the export of maize, yet cases of smuggling are still being reported.

He says there is need to re-look at the measures put in place and find a lasting solution to curb smuggling of maize and mealie meal.

Mr. Mwape has however, commended government for the efforts being made to stop the smuggling of maize and mealie meal, but notes that more needs to be done.
