President Edgar Lungu has observed that Zambia’s stability depends on religious tolerance by all citizens.

President Lungu is urging people in the Country to sustain such tolerance for the sake of posterity.

He notes that the only way Christians can help in the socio-economic development of the country is to stand by the virtues of the Holy Scripture the Bible.

President Lungu said this today when he joined the Anglican communion to the opening Eucharistic services of the 16th session of the Anglican Consultative Council (ACC) conference held in Lusaka.

And President has suggested that while government is doing everything possible to reverse the economic challenges the country is experiencing, there is need for every church to contribute towards such efforts.

President Lungu says there should be a closer partnership between the state and the church to speed up socio-economic development as well as uplift the spiritual needs of Zambians.

He has also noted the need for Zambians to be thankful for God’s blessings over the years by praying incessantly for more blessings in the coming years.

The President has further noted the need  for Zambians to put into practice what they have learnt from the Bible by denouncing social vices such as violence.

Meanwhile President Lungu says the coming together of world Anglican Bishops and their members is a symbol of unity in a world that is characterized by conflicts.

President Lungu believes that in spite of the many conflicts in the world today it is also possible for countries to co-exist.

Speaking earlier at the same conference Anglican Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby said the church will pray for Zambia to overcome the current economic hardships.

Reverend Welby has since called for love and unity among Zambians, the ingredients, he says are vital for the socio-economic and political advancement of the country.
