Restriction of mealie meal sales are justified- ZACA

The Zambia Consumer Association (ZACA) says retailers that are restricting the sale of mealie meal amidst a countrywide shortage are justified.

ZACA Information and Publicity Officer Juba Sakala says this is especially given the demand of mealie meal in the Country currently.

Mr. Sakala says his association supports retail stores that are restricting buying of mealier meal to not more three bags of the 25 kg bag per individual customer.

He notes that selling of the commodity in bulk will deprive others from buying.

Mr. Sakala says his association also envisages  that restriction of how many bags of mealie meal a customer can buy at a given time will also curb the re-selling of the commodity at a high price.
