This is contrary to some media reports suggesting that inspection would take place from the 17th to 24th of April.

ECZ Public Relations Manager Crispin Akufuna has told Qfm News in a statement that inspection of the voters’ register will be in all 7, 700 registration centers across the Country.

Mr. Akufuna states that registered voters will be allowed to inspect the register during this period with the view of ensuring that their particulars are correct.

He notes that the number of registered voters capture in the registration exercise that took place from the 14th of September 2015 to the 29th of  February this year is still 1, 695, 580.

Mr. Akufuna explains that this number is however provisional as it may change after the ongoing clean up and inspection of the provisional register of voters from the 15th to the 21st of May this year.

He notes that the current Register of Voters has 5, 166, 088 persons below the commission’s target of 6, 866, 088.

And Mr. Akufuna has challenged the opposition UPND to provide evidence of its allegation that the commission will disenfranchise some its prospective voters during the inspection period.
