NCC Executive Director Charles Mushota
The National Council for Construction (NCC) has disclosed that it has registered a total of 3,241 contractors as of March 31st.
NCC Executive Director Charles Mushota says this is the first time the council has managed to register almost 70 percent of the existing contractors in the first quarter of the year.
In an interview, Mr. Mushota says this figure is also an indication that these contractors either have ongoing projects or are expecting more work this year.
Mr. Mushota states that this therefore shows a brighter side of the sector in a year characterised by economic challenges.
He says the NCC is hoping that economic fundamentals such as the exchange rate will begin to stabilize as the year progresses.
