Tayali cautions on amendment of POA

The Zambian Voice says there is need to appreciate the importance of civil order as Government and other stakeholders ponder on having the Public Order Act amended.

Executive Director Chilufya Tayali says his organization believes that this should be done while at the same time upholding people’s democratic rights.

In an interview, Mr. Tayali says the Zambian Voice does not think the Country should forego civil order for the sake of preserving freedoms such as those of expression and association.

He says while people are enjoying such freedoms, there must be a conducive environment for public order and peace.
