MAZ outgoing President Allan Sakala
The Millers Association of Zambia (MAZ) has welcomed Government’s decision to restrict the transportation of maize and mealie-meal to daytime.
MAZ outgoing President Allan Sakala says it is important that the transportation of maize or mealie meal is regulated.
Mr. Sakala says this will help in curbing illegal smuggling of the commodities.
He notes that there is no need to transport mealie-meal or maize in the night if transporters have permits.
Mr. Sakala has however, appealed to government to increase the allocation of maize supply from the Food Reserve Agency to millers order to stabilize the price of the staple food.
Government has announced the restriction in the transportation of maize and mealie meal from 06:00hrs to 1800 hours.
