FFTUZ urges govt to clarify on retirement age

The Federation of Free Trade Unions of Zambia (FFTUZ) has called on government to clear the growing confusion pertaining to the retirement age.

FFTUZ President Chingati Msiska says the union is worried that some stakeholders are misleading the workers that they can only retire at 65 years old as opposed to the three options provided for of 55, 60 or 65 years.

Mr. Msiska says it is important that government comes out clearly and give direction to workers who are being misled by certain stakeholders.

And the FFTUZ has encouraged government to continue formulating policies aimed at creating an enabling environment for investors to invest in the country and create jobs for local people.

Mr. Msiska points out that the revision of the labour laws which saw the abolition of casualization in the country is one such as positive move aimed at helping workers in the country.
