Police recover stolen items

Police in Lusaka have recovered assorted household goods worth over one million kwacha from bandits who have been terrorizing Roma Township residents.

Police Deputy Spokesperson Esther Mwata-Katongo has told journalists that the goods were recovered from Lusaka’s Chibolya compound.

Ms Katongo says eight criminalsEsther Mwaata ZP stole from a family of Roma Township and that in the ensuing exchange of fire Police gunned down four of them while four other are on the run.

She says among the recovered items include, a Land Rover Discovery, two Lanova laptops, DVD player, Plasma TV, Samsung note pads among other items.

She says a Toyota Runx was also recovered which the bandits were using by changing number plates each time they were going to stage a robbery.

And Police have recovered K416, 950 from Chinese nationals who had kidnapped their fellow Chinese national by way of using masks.

And the Police Deputy Spokesperson has urged Lusaka residents not to be intimidated by the presence of mobile Police officers in various compounds.

Ms. Katongo says the officers are there to keep law and order more especially at night following a spate of robberies and ritual killings in the capital city.
