The Islamic Supreme Council of Zambia has advised political parties to adopt candidates who they have confidence in to deliver to the expectations of the people of Zambia.

Supreme Council President Suzyo Zimba says other than the grade 12 requirement in the amended constitution, political parties should also set standards in those aspiring to stand on their tickets at various political levels.

He notes that time is long gone to adopt people out of favor but adopt them based on merit so that they may effectively contribute to the development of the nation.

Mr. Zimba says Zambians should refuse to be given representatives who will not be able to deliver for them citing that they risk lagging behind in development.

He further states that he is hopeful that political parties will give Zambians the best candidate in the august 11 general elections.
