The Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) will soon engage Secretary Generals of all political parties in the quest to ensure the protection of media personnel ahead of this year’s general election.

IBA Director General Josephine Mapoma says the IBA wants to get an assurance from these senior party officials that their cadres will desist from harassing Journalists in the course of their work.

She says what the IBA wants to achieve is to have a commitment from each Secretary General that their political parties will not interfere with the operations of any radio or TV station.

Ms. Mapoma says the Authority desires that even when journalists are interviewing political party leaders, the interviews should be conducted in a friendly environment.
