Zesco United assistant coach Tenant Chembo says he is humbled to have been given temporal reins by his boss George Lwandamina, to lead the team in Sunday’s 2016 Caf Champions League away clash in Guinea.

Lwandamina will miss Sunday’s first round, final leg tie against Horoya AC while he presides over Zambia’s preparations for Wednesday’s 2017 Africa Cup Group E qualifier at home against Congo-Brazzaville in Ndola.

This will also be Chembo’s first continental match in charge after six years at Zesco.

“We are blessed to have ‘Big George’ in our midst. We are drinking wisdom from him and it is a really a blessing,” Chembo said.

Chembo said he was not feeling the pressure especially that he has been head coach before in 2013 when he led Zesco to a runners-up spot when they finished behind Nkana.

“There is always a first time in life, so if it comes you have to appreciate and embrace it,” Chembo said.

Chembo heads to Conakry with Zesco who enjoy a 4-1 first leg win in Ndola that they picked up on March 19.

A draw on the road will suffice for the Zambian champions to see them through to April’s pre-group round of the Champions League.
