UPND challenges Lungu to prove his militia allegations

The opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) has challenged President Edgar Lungu to prove his allegations that the party is training a militia group comprising of about 250 youths.

UPND Chairman for Rural Reconstruction and Development Moono Mapani says the UPND Leader has on several occasions denounced violence and there is no way he can start training youths to be agents of violence.

Mr. Mapani says it is very clear now that President Lungu is feeling the pressure of leaving office and that is why he is alleging that the UPND wants to cause violence during this year’s elections.

Meanwhile, Mr. Mapani has advised Copperbelt Police Commissioner Charity Katanga to be above bold and apply the law fairly.

He says it is unacceptable for Ms Katanga to cancel the rally where UPND Leader Hakainde Hichilema was expected to address the people on the Copperbelt.
