Evans Sakala will be temporarily in charge of Nchanga Rangers following the death of head coach Fighton Simukonda last week.

Sakala was the the late Simukonda’s first assistant at Nchanga since arriving at the Faz Super League club in the middle of the 2015 season.

“I am sure we will meet soon and I am sure the issue of the coach will also be on our agenda,” Chongo said.

Chingo said Sakala will be assisted by ex-Zambia defender Elijah Tana and former Nchanga midfielder Evans Mwaba. Sakala joined Nchanga from Napsa Stars last year that saw Tana relegated to second assistant.

Simukonda died on February 15 in Chililabombwe after a two-month battle with Diabetes. He took charge at Nchanga in 2012, finishing in sixth that year, third in 2013, sixth in 2014 and 11th in the 2015 season.

Simukonda also guided Nchanga to the Barclays Cup final in 2013 where they finished runners-up.

He also led Zambia to their second Cosafa Cup triumph in 1998 and regularly served as assistant Chipolopolo coach under several regimes from 1996 to 2015.
