LAZ recommends disbanding of parties’ security wings

The Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) has recommended that political parties should disband their ‘security wings’ saying they have become a source violence and intimidation in the country.

LAZ President George Chisanga has told media briefing in Lusaka today that these groups should be disbanded because they have been incidents were clashes between rival political parties resulted in violence.

Mr. Chisanga has also stated that it has become worrying and of great concern over the escalating incidents of violence and disorderly conduct associated with political activities in Zambia.

The LAZ President says the association has repeated calls to the Zambia Police and other Law enforcement agencies to act decisively and bring all perpetrators of violence to justice as a way of preserving peace.

He says the job of providing security should not be left to political party cadres because it is a function and preserve of the Police.
