Govt spends K151M on mobile NRC issuance

Home Affairs Minister Davies Mwila has disclosed that government spent more than K151 million for the issuance of mobile national registration exercise.

Mr. Mwila told Parliament during a ministerial statement that this afternoon that for phase one a total of K47 million was released, while K68 million was released for the second phase and K36 million was used for the third and final phase for the mobile issuance of NRCs.

Mr. Mwila says during the first phase of NRC issuance exercise, a total of 104, 071 people were captured in Muchinga Province, while in North Western Province a total of 135, 584 were registered and 169, 983 were from Central Province.

He says during phase two, in Lusaka 258, 540 people were registered, in Southern Province 157, 325 were captured, as for Western province 131, 194 were registered and a total of 229, 395 were captured from Eastern Province.

The Home Affairs Minister furthermore disclosed to the house that on the Copperbelt, a total of 289, 692 people obtained NRCs, while 157, 456 were from Luapula and in North Western Province a total of 113, 160 were registered.

Mr. Mwila has since thanked all stakeholders who participated in the exercise and that they should continue supporting government in delivering the best services to the people of Zambia.
