Things have not been easy these past two weeks for Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh. And he can’t bottle up about it.

The opinionated gaffer has told of how financially handicapped his preparations for next month’s Afcon 2017 qualifer against Egypt have been. The game is slated for March 25 in Kaduna, but things are not going well. “I am struggling financially, waiting for approvals to move around Europe, so it has been quiet. It has to do with transport, accommodation and other expenses while moving out,” Oliseh told Brila FM in Nigeria.

The expected Eagles team list has also been delayed since player monitoring has been almost impossible due to the inability to do Euro-hopping. “I need to spend 15, 20 minutes on the phone to speak to each player before he is invited.”

Despite these challenges, Oliseh hopes to open camp in mid-March with players from the local league. That will be before the foreign-component of his squad will jet in.

In a big boost for local football, Oliseh also said seven or eight players from the recent African Nations Championship team will be included in the squad to prep for the Egypt game.
