Lazarous Bwalya Chungu
Government says it has distributed a total of 29, 466 metric tones of relief maize in areas of the Country that were affected by last year’s poor rainfall.
Office of the Vice President Deputy Minister Lazarous Chungu has disclosed to QTV this translates to 589, 333 50kg bags of maize.
Mr. Chungu says from the 29, 466 tones Western province has to date received 14, 512 tones which is about 290, 247 50kg bags of maize while Eastern province has been sent 7 625 tones which is about 152, 510 50kg bags.
He says Southern province has so far received 3, 364 tones which is about 67, 490 50kg bags.
Mr. Chungu says government has also distributed relief food to some parts of Central and Muchinga provinces.
He says distribution of relief maize has since continued.
