Foreign Affairs Minister Harry Kalaba says the recent visit of about fifteen Diplomats to UPND President Hakainde Hichilema’s residence is a clear indication of the strength and maturity of Zambia’s Democracy.

Mr. Kalaba says this is a normal practice in any diplomatic country like Zambia especially in the run-up to general elections provided it is done within the confines of the law.

And Mr. Kalaba has disclosed that government has started sending invitations to regional and international organizations to participate as election observers in the forth coming elections.

He says government is committed to ensure that this year’s elections are conducted in a free, fair and credible manner.

Mr. Kalaba has re-iterated government’s commitment to the democratic principles of good governance, accountability, transparency and rule of law saying Zambia is renowned for her democratic credentials.

He has told journalists in Lusaka today during a media briefing that the Patriotic Front Government upholds the principles of freedom of association, freedom of expression and the right to alternative sources of information from not only the ruling party but also other stakeholders to the political process in Zambia.
