Midfielder Salulani Phiri remains sidelined with injury and will Miss Zanaco’s 2016 Charity Shield semi-final clash against Green Buffaloes.

Salulani suffered his injury while on Zambia duty at the just-ended 2016 CAF African Nations Championship (Chan) in Rwanda.

He sustained a hip injury on January 23 in Zambia’s 1-0 win over Uganda in the first half of a Chan Group D match played in Rubavu.

Salulani went on to miss the 0-0 draw against Mali and post-match quarterfinals defeat to Guinea after starting in Zambia’s opening Group D matches against Zimbabwe and Uganda.

Zanaco coach Mumamba Numba said Salulani has been restricted to just light training.

“Salulani will only start normal training next week,” Numba said.

“He is fine now but we just don’t want to rush him otherwise he will be ready for full-training next week.”

Meanwhile, Numba gave his team a clean bill of health for Saturday’s lunchtime clash against Buffaloes of the Charity Shield doubleheader semi-final to be played at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.

The team is expected to include midfielder Isaac Chansa who was also part of Zambia’s Chan team.

Winner of the match will face victor of the second semi-final between Power Dynamos and defending champions Zesco United on March 5.
