ZABS guides manufacturers, food producers on testing products

The Zambia Bureau of Standards (ZABS) has urged local manufacturers, food processors and other entrepreneurs to ensure that products that they produce and put on the market are analyzed and tested using recognized laboratories to ensure compliance to set standards.

ZABS Head of Marketing and Public Relations Hazel Zulu says this is in order to promote public safety and health and to avoid subjecting consumers to substandard products that may be harmful.

Ms. Zulu says the Products that conform to set standards will help companies to gain competitive advantage and promote customer loyalty.

She notes that the compliance levels are improving as more and more companies are becoming aware of the critical need to have their products checked for compliance.

Ms. Zulu further states that ZABS has modern Testing Laboratories for testing and analysis of products to national and international standards as well as client specifications.
