The National Aids Council (NAC) has secured funding amounting to US$96, 000 from International Organization for Migration (IOM) to finance HIV programs in three boarder districts in the country.

Last year NAC and IOM partnered and developed the Border District Strategic HIV and AIDS Investment Plans which encompasses three border districts – Chililabombwe, Kazungula and Sesheke.

NAC Communications Manager Justine Mwiinga has explained to QFM News in an interview that IOM has released about K1.1 million to implement this program in the three boarder districts.

Mr. Mwiinga says the council is concentrating on boarder districts to sensitize both local people as well as foreigners on prevention as well as encourage them to go for Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT).

He says the hope of the institution is to extend this initiative to other boarder entry points as the nation continues to work hard in the fight against HIV/AIDS in the country.
