Women urged to strengthen efforts in GBV fight

Women in the country have been called upon to strengthen their efforts in the fight against gender-based-violence (GBV) by sensitizing their communities and working with law enforcers to curb the scourge.

Young Women Christian Association YWCA Chingola district Chairperson, Gertrude Mutenda says women should take it upon themselves to sensitize each other on their rights, as well as break the silence on GBV whenever it occurs in their communities.

Ms. Mutenda says women should partner with the Police to denounce GBV and any kind of discrimination that undermines the values of equality and sustainable development.

She states that women should quickly cases of Gender Based Violence to the Police in order to send a strong message to perpetrators of GBV that their schemes will not succeed.
