Happenings at ZNFU worries CTPD

The Center for Trade, Policy and Development (CTPD) has urged government to devise mechanisms of ensuring that agricultural programs being implemented in collaboration with the Zambia National Farmers Union (ZNFU) are not affected by what is happening at the famers union.

CTPD Executive Director Isabel Mukelebai has observed that during this period when the ZNFU is probed for financial irregularities, it is important that the government ensures that all farming programs being speared headed by ZNFU are not stalled.

Ms Mukelebai says since government has identified the agriculture sector as one of the key sectors in revamping the country’s economy, it is important that all efforts of improving the sector are not frustrated.

She has also challenged the government to tell the nation how the Electronic Voucher program which is being implemented by the ZNFU will progress in view of the allegations of financial irregularities at the ZNFU.
