CSPR cautions govt against veering off 2016 budget

The Civil Society for Poverty Reduction (CSPR) has advised government to maintain the highest level of fiscal discipline and stick to the 2016 National Budget considering that this is an election year.

The CSPR warns that failure to stick to the budget as approved by Parliament, could plunge the nation into an economic crisis.

CSPR Information and Communications Officer Maxson Nkhoma says government should resist the temptation of funding political programs outside the budget.

Mr. Nkhoma states that government must ensure that its expenditure is in line with the 2016 national budget.

He tells QFM News that the party in power is usually faced with the temptation of getting money from other programs to fund projects that may appease the electorates, but that this on its own comes with serious repercussions.
