ECZ nomination fees are justified- Nyirenda

Operation Young Vote Executive Director Guess Nyirenda says the Electoral Commission of Zambia should not be blamed for the hiked nomination fees for this year’s elections.

Mr. Nyirenda says the electoral body is merely responding to the changes in the economic dynamics.

He says the Electoral Commission of Zambia is responding to economic fundamentals such as the inflation rate which has reached 21.8 percent.

The ECZ has pegged the nomination fee for presidential candidates at K75,000 with the nomination fee for parliamentary candidates at K10,000.
