DMMU realigning to adapt to climate change – Chungu

The Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU), has begun the process of realigning its strategies in responding to national disasters in view of climate change.

Deputy Minister in the Office of the Vice President, Lazarus Bwalya Chungu says the DMMU is mindful that in view of climate change, the Country has not been spared from experiencing extreme weather.

Mr. Chungu says besides being swift in dealing with national disasters, his office through DMMU is sensitizing people to change their mindsets in view of extreme weather conditions the country is experiencing.

He says people are being urged to realize that climate change is real and is here to stay.

Mr. Chungu says in conducting these sensitizations, his office is also advising people to secure their properties from possible calamities by among other things insuring their properties.
