Increased nomination fees discriminatory – Women’s Lobby

The Zambia National Women’s Lobby (ZNWL) says the announced nomination fees by the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) are discriminatory.

ZNWL Board Chairperson Beauty Katebe says the new fees will deter a lot of women from taking part in the forthcoming elections.

Ms. Katebe notes that the increment is also too sudden, stating that it could have been appreciated if it was done gradually and reasons given for the increment.

She says with the new fees, it means that politics will now be for the rich people and the poor will now not be able to participate in the governance affairs of the nation.
