Six apprehend from Chelstone police escapees

Six of the eighteen detainees who escaped from lawful custody at Chelstone Police Station in Lusaka have so far been apprehended.

Police Spokesperson Chanda Munganga says Justine Mwelwa the sixth to be apprehended, who was facing charges of criminal trespass and theft was rearrested from Chelstone clinic where he had gone to seek medical attention this morning.

Ms. Munganga says a manhunt for the remaining 13 suspects has continued.

On Thursday, 28 detainees escaped from Chelstone Police cells after overpowering an officer on duty.
