Former Committee of Citizens Executive Director, Gregory Chifire says Home Affairs Minister Davies Mwila should immediately rescind his decision to deregister the Democratic Front Party (DF).
Mr. Chifire stresses that the grounds upon which the Minister based his decision to deregister the DF are baseless and only serve to create a breeding ground for civil and political disorder.
He says it is such kind of zeal to undertake wrong decisions that is putting the future of Zambia’s democracy in harm’s way.
Mr. Chifire notes that the Democratic Front deserves the right to enjoy their freedom as well as the country’s democracy.
He points out that the action taken by the Minister was arbitrary, draconian and reasonably unjustifiable in a democratic society.
Mr. Chifire has further stated that the deregistration of the Democratic Front is not in good faith, but has hidden motives.
