Government says it has successfully distributed over 20 tractors worthy K350, 000 each and full farming kit to rural female farmers under the Agricultural Development Value Chain Enhancement (ADVANCE) programme.

Gender and Child Development Deputy Minister Dorothy Kazunga has explained to QFM News that the ministry is also expected to distribute 20 more tractors this year to female farmers.

Ms Kazunga says the tractors are expected to be in the country by next week before being distributed to female farmers across the country.

Ms Kazunga states that government has various economic activities aimed at benefitting women and children in the country.

She says government remains committed in ensuring that women are empowered so that they can stand on their own and help in developing the nation.

The ADVANCE programme being implemented by the Ministry of Gender is aimed at empowering rural women farmers with agricultural machinery that will help improve food security and nutritional levels at household and national level.
