Govt implored to quickly address challenges in wood sector

Timber Association of Zambia Vice President Charles Masange has implored Government to quickly address the challenges being faced in the wood sector.

Mr. Masange says the Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) should not only concentrate on attracting foreign investors, but also help in promoting local investors.

He says it sad that Government has concentrated on attracting foreign investors at the expense of local investors who are facing numerous challenges.
Mr. Masange notes that challenges being faced in the wood sector are due to lack of synergies between the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry and the Zambia Development Agency (ZDA).

He has since appealed to the ministry of Land to ensure that only Zambians are allowed to acquire forestry concession licenses in accordance with the new forestry Act.
