The Southern African Center for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) is dismayed that the Public Order Act still remains a dent on Zambia’s human rights record.

SACCORD Executive Director Boniface Cheembe says his organization is concerned that this piece of legislation portrays Zambia as a Country still under colonial rule.

Mr. Cheembe has told QTV that SACCORD finds it saddening that the Country is still entertaining a law that infringes upon people’s rights in the 21st century.

He states that if Government cannot repeal the Public Order Act, it should commit itself to amending the law in line with the modern day tenets of Democracy and ensure it is implemented in a fair and impartial manner.
