The Alliance for Democracy and Development (ADD) has expressed fears that this year’s general election might be characterized by high levels of voter apathy.

ADD President Charles Milupi says this apathy will be more prevalent in flood prone areas as most of the roads would be impassable by August.

Mr. Milupi says his party suspects that the move to set the general election date in the republican constitution on second Thursday of August was therefore deliberate.

He tells QFM that the ADD suspects that ruling PF must have also known that the quality of living in Zambia will be deteriorating at a faster rate under its tenure hence the need to have early elections.

Mr. Milupi adds that given how long it takes for floods water to dry in some areas, it would have been better if the date for elections was set somewhere in the third week of September.
