ZCID hails opposition

The Zambia Center for Inter-party Dialogue has hailed as mature the resolution made by opposition political parties, pledging not to engage in violence, hate speech and tribal campaigns ahead of the August 11 general election.

ZCID Executive Director Horrance Chilando says his organisation welcomes every effort aimed at stamping out negative vices such as tribalism, political violence and hate speech that do not add value to the growth of the nation’s democracy.

Mr. Chilando tells QFM News that the levels of hate speech, tribal remarks and political violence are worrying and require concerted efforts to address.

He has however, expressed disappointment that the ruling party could not attend the meeting.

Mr. Chilando states that the ruling party should be seen to be leading by example in stamping out negative vices that threaten the peace of the nation.
