Civil servants cautioned against being influenced by political affiliations

Civil Servants and Allied Workers Union of Zambia President Davy Chiyobe has cautioned civil servants not to allow their political affiliations to influence their discharge of official duties.

Speaking during a media briefing, Mr. Chiyobe says civil servants should maintain their neutrality as they discharge their duties, especially as the country heads to polls.

He adds that civil servants should not engage in political party activities such as fundraising and electioneering.

Mr Chiyobe however, states that the Union stands ready to defend any member who might be victimized for performing their functions in good faith.
