President Edgar Lungu says he has communicated with MMD President Dr. Nevers Mumba with the view of the PF and MMD working together in the August 11 elections.

President Lungu says this is the only way they can achieve the 50 percent plus one threshold.

He says the friendship between the MMD and PF is not new, hence the need for the two parties to work together.

And President Lungu has urged PF members to work hard in the campaigns and avoid a rerun because it is costly.

President Lungu also assured PF members that he will choose a running mate who shares the same vision with him.

Meanwhile President Lungu has warned civil servants and council workers who are in the habit of undermining his leadership to stop or face dismissal.

President Lungu has observed that some civil servants are undermining his leadership because they do not sympathise with him.

He issued the warning when he addressed PF members in Chipata at Luangwa House yesterday.

President Lungu says whoever wants to undermine the PF government so that it fails would be sacked.

He explained that civil servants should remain neutral and serve whichever government is in power because they are serving the nation and not political parties.

President Lungu has since directed Local Government and Housing Minister Steven Kampyongo to investigate Chipata Municipal Council workers who spearheaded the burning of street vendors’ makeshift stands last week in an exercise to rid the streets of vendors.
