KCM to continue operating despite current difficulties

Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) has assured the nation that it will continue operating despite the difficulties arising from low copper prices on the international market.

KCM Chairman who is also Vendatta Resources Chief Executive Officer, Tom Albanese has told University of Zambia students in the school mining at the Great East road campus this afternoon that the price of copper will continue to fluctuate, but that there is need to persevere both in good and hard times.

And Mr. Albanese has projected that Zambia still faces a challenging year ahead as the price of copper continues to lower.

He however, states that with perseverance and a positive attitude, the country will pull through.

He has also disclosed that KCM is looking at ways of increasing power backup such as bringing in more generators to cushion the impact of the power shortage.

Mr.Albanese has expressed confidence that the mining company will survive amidst the challenges that the country is going through.

He implored the students to be ready to work in the mining industry regardless of the challenges that are being experienced in the copper markets.
