UPND accuses President Lungu of instigating tribal talk

The opposition UPND has charged that President Edgar Lungu’s remarks in Southern Province that there is an opposition leader who thinks he can win an election with one region confirms what it has been saying that he is instigating tribal talk in the country.

In a statement to QFM News, UPND National Chairperson Mutale Nalumango says despite the people of Southern Province according the President a peaceful and warm welcome, he resorted to the same subject that has been roundly condemned in the country.

She says barely a week after he banned tribal talk, President Lungu is again back on the same subject in Southern Province demeaning the same people.

Ms. Nalumango states that this confirms that he is at the centre of the hate speech messages and derogatory language some PF officials are propagating.

She says the people of southern province like many others in Zambia wanted to hear workable and alternative economic solutions that will address joblessness, agriculture, power cuts, and the high cost of living in the country.

Ms. Nalumango states that the President once again missed the opportunity to unite the people of Zambia by resorting to unproductive and petty subjects of indirectly attacking other people for his failings.

She adds that contrary to the President’s assertions,UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema has done lots of community work in various parts of the country from building schools, clinics, sinking boreholes, and sponsorship of vulnerable children in schools from lower grades to colleges and universities for more than 25 years now, way before he joined politics.
